How it works
Solar, batteries, vehicle chargers and new appliances all connect through the main electrical panel. An empty breaker space is only one thing you can see; a licensed electrician can assess capacity and condition.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends having home wiring inspected and correcting defects that are found.
Warning signs
- Breakers that trip often.
- Warm, buzzing or discolored outlets or panel covers.
- Flickering lights when large appliances start.
- A burning smell. Treat it as urgent and call a licensed electrician.
