Look for Oncor next to the delivery charges on your bill. If another company, a cooperative or a city utility is named, see the utilities directory instead.

Connecting and permission to operate

Oncor's solar page says the installer applies, Oncor reviews and may study the system, an interconnection agreement is signed, and Oncor then gives written permission to operate.

Energy sent to the grid is recorded by the advanced meter and passed to your retail electric provider, starting with the first full billing cycle, typically 30 to 60 days after permission to operate.

Who sets the buyback

Your retail electric provider, not Oncor, sets any buyback or credit, so there is no single export value.

2026 program options

Oncor's 2026 manual lists residential solar options with and without battery storage. Eligibility includes an Oncor residential account and a new qualifying system; additions to existing solar or storage do not qualify. A participating provider must secure project approval and reserved funds before construction. Ask for written eligibility and funding confirmation. Program participation is not an Oncor endorsement.

A recent delivery charge change

In its second-quarter 2026 results, Oncor said a temporary surcharge began August 1, 2026, recovering the difference between old and new rates for January 1 to June 1, through the end of 2026. Oncor estimated about $3.63 a month at 1,000 kWh; that is its illustration at one usage level, not a whole bill.

• A recent electric bill showing your retail provider, plan and delivery charges
• A year of usage, if your provider shows it
• Any roof inspection report, repair records or roof age
• Every proposal and contract you have received, including financing terms

1. Has someone checked my roof in person, and does it need work before panels go on?
2. Which way does the roof face, what shades it, and how long is it likely to stay in service before work is needed?
3. Who submits the application to Oncor, and who tells me when written permission to operate arrives?
4. Which retail electric provider plan are your numbers based on, and what does it pay or credit for exported energy?
5. Which charges on my bill stay the same with solar?
6. Which incentive applies, who receives it, what is reserved, and where does it show in the written price?
7. Who removes and reinstalls panels if the roof needs work later, and who pays?
