How it works
A heat pump moves heat rather than making it. A heat-pump reference hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy explains that cooling moves heat out of the home, while heating brings heat in.
In Texas, cooling is often one of the largest electrical loads in a home.
More than the box
- Change filters on the schedule your equipment calls for.
- Have ductwork and attic insulation checked; leaks and thin insulation make the system work harder.
- Ask how proposed equipment was sized, and whether ducts or the building also need attention.
Your decision
Write down which rooms are uncomfortable and when. A clear proposal connects the work to the problem you described.
